When anyone asks me how to care for their house plants I akwardly mumble something about not having very many and that I'm an outdoor gardener. Frankly up until the last year and a half I had only bought orchids, a ficus (once long ago) and a bonsai or two. My forte was the garden outside.. or so I thought. My sweet heart has kindly sent me several house plants as gifts over the past 18 months and they are 'growing' on me. If I had any reluctance before it was only my ability to care for them enough. I had 3 children and 3 pets at home and a garden design business with gardens to plant, need I say more ? Happily now my mind has been opened to them completely and the article I read in the NY times today (link below) sealed the deal. As I get older I plan to adopt, collect and adorn our sun room with as many indoor plants as possible. Thanks Tovah Martin you're an inspiration, and thank you Dave for all our sweet house plants !

What an inspiration you are! I have to admit that the number of houseplants I own has decreased over the years and I am just managing to keep John's grandmother's Angel Wing begonia alive and a Christmas or Thanksgiving cactus plant surviving. Both have been neglected so I must pay more attention to them. I will check out NY Times article.
