These photos are from June and the beginning of July. My clients want to be outside when at their beach house with their young children. They also want some privacy and a safe place for kids to play and adults to hang out. I designed something that feels like an outdoor room instead of an actual garden. I love how it's turning out and the rusticness of their adorable little 'A' frame house in the redwoods. (5 minutes from manzanita beach) Here are some 'after the redo' and 'before pics' of the project. Thanks for stopping by gardenrooms ~
I loved this little campy red picnic table found years before. We placed it under the redwoods, it's a nice 'how do you do' when you first pull up to the house from the city..
We planted a low maintenance, fun, grassy border in front of house.
I love roof siding and thought it would be great aorund this existing deck, we placed it horizontally for a more modern feel. A very talented carpenter my clients know met with me and built this out in just 3 days !
The back of the deck was left open to the surrounding woods and is a perfect place for the barbeque.
Looking into the new garden room from their dining area in the house.
Before we started ~
images from my iphone. thanks to michael, marinda and jay for all their help with this project !
I came across a catalog that I had saved from Serena & Lily this weekend, I love their easy style. Here are few things I'm looking at for the outdoors right now. Hope your week is off to a great start. Thanks for stopping by gardenrooms. : )
I'll be working in the Southeast for the next month and missing the Pacific Northwest and it's lovely Summer every moment. However this little house & garden has captured my eye on the Indian river just ten minutes from the Ocean. There's even a little town a few blocks away. Check back soon for more images of gardens. Happy gardening ~
I took a walk through a few Bungalow gardens yesterday that I wanted to share with you. This is my friend Rand's back garden. He also cleverly hung some repurposed shutters on his front porch to block the sunlight. My impromptu iphone images hardly due this fabulous outdoor space justice, next time I'm bringing my camera Rand. Thank you for showing me around your garden and neighborhood !
