Herbs

There are many reasons that people grow herbs. They can be decorative, medicinal and culinary.
I've been planting kitchen gardens for clients lately and everyone is crazy about them. Herbs can be cut just prior to cooking, and is the perfect addition to any dish. images from growing fruit and vegetables by Richard Bird.Sc0008220f

Peace

It doesn't mean to be in a place where there is no noise, trouble or hard work. It means to be in the midst of those things, and still be calm in your heart. (unknown)

Zip Lines

I've been working non stop lately, sorry for not posting more gardenrooms. I have a few pics of a garden I've been working in though. This young family wanted a zip line for their children. How fun is this? I decided the perch should be designed as naturally as possible. So the wonderful Pete built this. Thanks Pete, the kids love it! For more on Zip lines.Dsc00822_3

Bodrum Turkey

I was here as a teenager, and it was such a beautiful place. White washed buildings, an old Fort sitting right on the water... even then I knew it was special. This terrace represents Bodrum perfectly.image from Patios and Verandas.Sc0003d6ce_2

Roof Top

The top photo is of a fabulous roof garden in Paris. The owner has planted vegetables right along with bulbs and Hydrangeas. Love this concept. I always incorporate an herb and kitchen garden into the gardens I design. The bottom photo is of a charming terrace in Milan, planted to the nines with fruit trees and roses.images from Patios and Verandas.Sc0002c3d7

Terraces

These photos are from a sweet little book called Patios and Verandas, Elle Decor Portfolios published by filipacchi. This is a country dwelling once a convent, converted into a private home beside the Petit Luberon mountain range. Need I say more...Sc000a54dc
