Peonies

Peonies are natives flowers to Asia, Southern Europe and North Amercia. This perennial plant is the sole genus in the Paeoniaceae family. They often have fragrant flowers and come in colors of pink, red, yellow and white. Peonies grow best in climates that freeze. They make a beautiful cut flower and their woody shrub like foliage are a wonderful addition to any border. In 1903, the Quing Dynasty chose the peony as their national flower. Add 1/2 cup of vodka and 2 to 3 peony blossoms. Place in a dark spot for a week. Strain the mixture and pour into glass bottles, add 1 to 2 petals per bottle.
